L.A. Department of Sanitation – “EXTORTION and CRIMINAL ACTIVITY”

The following is reprinted with permission of The Foothill Record, April 2018, Vol. 5, No. 4, Page 9.

Break out the leftover New Year’s party hats and noise makers, how about leftover Valentine’s candy or maybe some Saint Patrick’s Day green brew.

We just need something festive to celebrate the L.A. Department of Sanitation’s invitation to join in a “new public/private partnership” designed to address disposing of some 3 million tons of trash created by the residents and businesses in the City each year.  This new “partnership” will extend recycling opportunities to everyone in the City, according to the press release.

About now, I’m beginning to wonder if I’m celebrating too soon.

Reading farther into the press release sets me at ease because the L.A. Department of Sanitation assures me that with this partnership we will have “stronger customer service”, “predictable and protected rates”, much needed “infrastructure and equipment improvements” and “moves us closer to achieving zero waste through a pioneering, recycling collection program”.

If your mind works like mine and some of my family, you are beginning to question this new “partnership”.  City Hall runs on money.  Every City program (excuse me “partnership”) sucks money out of residents and businesses.

This new “partnership”; I like how they use this friendly word to disarm us so when the new “innovative franchise system” sucks $35 million out of the pockets of every business and multiple dwelling in L.A. via the mandatory “partnership” with seven private trash companies serving as collection agents for the City, we are supposed to applaud.

As I remember in high school civics, when you are forced to join an organization or pay someone by threat or intimidation it’s called “EXTORTION”!  And if you’re the one collecting the money, then you’re engaged in “CRIMINAL ACTIVITY”.

Anyone want to initiate a class-action suit against the trash companies for engaging in “criminal activity” for extortion and acting as pimps for City Hall?

As if we didn’t already know how City Hall operates, and how the criminals on the City Council keep sucking the life out of anyone choosing to live or own a business in L.A., the “Zero Waste L.A.” isn’t something in which we want to partner.

Cheers…………. Anonymous

PLEASE, PLEASE make copies of the above article and mail it to Mayor Garcetti and every member of the L.A. City Council.  To make this effective enough to maybe influence these politicians, let’s all join together in this effort and let them know what we think about their trashy trash program.  They need to “RecycLA the AOA Way”!!

You might also remind the Mayor with a note that USA voters are not going to want a President who believes in creating monopolies for all of his “friends” who donate to his political campaigns!
